Project Reduce is a partnership between Milton Keynes Council and Northamptonshire County Council, working together to find cleaner, greener ways of treating and disposing of waste in the future.
The Project Reduce partnership area
In the past, the majority of household waste that cannot be recycled has been sent to landfill sites, but this cannot continue.
With an additional 160,000 extra homes scheduled to be built across the partnership area and fewer suitable sites for landfill, the increasing amount that we throw away cannot continue to be disposed of using traditional methods.
This situation requires skilful management and is dependent upon continual improvements in waste minimisation, recycling and composting schemes.
Both Councils continue to develop and promote household recycling and composting schemes. Yet in spite of improved recycling performance, we recognise that a certain amount of waste will still be left over.
It is the aim of this exciting Project to provide new waste facilities to deal with this residual waste.
Thank you for taking the time to find out more about the project and we welcome your feedback and comments.
